Recruitment Procedure
The overall policy guidelines, duties and detailed rules and
regulation regarding the recruitment procedure followed in RRB's have
been laid down by the Railway Recruitment Control Board, Ministry of
Railways, New Delhi. The selection process is based on merit and is
computerized, thus making it transparent and fair. There is no scope
of influence or discretion in the process. Candidates trying to use
influence or unfair means or those not having necessary qualification
at the time of application or those giving wrong information are
disqualifies from the selection and are liable for any other action
under extant rules.
i) Calling for Application
The RRB calls for eligible application for
recruitment to the advertised post of group 'C' through Employment
Notices advertised in the Employment News/Rozgar Samachar. Brief
indicative advertisement regarding the EN are given in some local
newspaper and two national dailies and on the Internet website. The
Employment Notice issued by RRB contains the Application Format (in A-4
size) and interalia; other information/details regarding age limit and
relaxation provisions in age limits for specified categories,
educational qualification, scale of pay, no. of vacancies, the number of
vacancies reserved for SC/ST/OBC/Ex-Servicemen, amount and form of
examination fees, whom to apply, closing date for receipt of
application, warning against convassing, the stages of examination for
recruitment to various posts, the training period after recruitment, the
medical standard required for various posts or other type of
irregularities or mistakes which would lead to disqualification of
candidates or make them liable for any other action under the extant
rules etc. Candidates are advised to read all the provisions of the
Employment Notice and the application form carefully before filling the
application form and strictly adhere to the closing date for receipt of
application in RRB.
ii) Selection Procedure
(i) The applications are scrutinized for eligibility.
The eligible candidates are called for a written examination with
call letters sent a month in advance of the date of examination
Indicative advertisement for the written examination are given in the
Employment News, some local dailies and also on the Internet website.
Candidates are advised to carefully note:
"Beware of unscrupulous persons who may misguide
the candidates with false promises of getting them selected for the job,
on illegal consideration. The recruitment process in the RRB exams is
fully computerised and selection is based purely on the merit of
candidates."
(ii) The results of selection at every stage are
published in the Employment News, some local dailies and two national
dailies, on the internet website and advised to successful candidates
through post.
(iii) The application details of successful
candidates are verified and candidates are called to appear in RRB
office with their original documents. The application details are again
verified with original documents by the Northern Railway/RCF, Kapurthala
authorities as the case may be before the appointment of candidates by
these authorities to various posts.
(iv) A panel of candidates selected in order of merit
is recommended to the Northern Railway Headquarters, Baroda House/ Rail
Coach Factory, Kapurthala, as the case may be, to the extent of
vacancies for the particular post. The candidates will be asked to
appear for medical examination which will be conducted by Railway
medical authorities.
